Clinical Mental Health Counseling Stipend

Financial Support Available

As of Summer 2023, a one-time $10,000 stipend is available for internship students pursuing a Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s degree. Funds are available from a Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN) American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) award intended to assist CSC graduate students with living expenses while completing the degree’s required intensive internship.

What are the Degree Requirements?

  • Six semesters of online coursework for full-time (9-12 cr. hrs.) graduate students who have not earned any prior graduate credits
  • A 600-hour internship
    • To be completed at one of the following in Nebraska:
      • Established private practice site
      • Educational service unit
      • Clinical agency
      • Hospital settings
    • CSC faculty will advise students about approved clinical placements
  • BHECN professional development events

Who is Eligible?

  • Current CSC graduate students who are Nebraska residents and working toward their Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree
  • School counselors who have completed most of their clinical coursework and want to finish the requirements for clinical mental health licensure in Nebraska
  • Individuals with a bachelor’s degree who want to enter clinical mental health counseling
