Strength and Conditioning Program Goals
  • Goal #1 - The program will prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete the NSCA CSCS certification exam.
  • Goal #2 – The program will prepare students for employment as a Strength and Conditioning professional that will serve the needs of Chadron State Colleges service region and beyond.
  • Goal #3 – The program will provide students with the opportunity to learn professional skills through a variety of field experiences in Strength and Conditioning.

Mission of the Strength & Conditioning Program

Mission – Sport, Fitness and Recreation Management

The mission of the Chadron State College Recreation program is to meet the educational needs of individuals interested in the broad field of Recreation, which includes the disciplines of Sport and Leisure Services, Community and Adventure Recreation, and Fitness and Exercise. The students in Recreation will develop the philosophies, knowledge and skills to become leaders in these disciplines. The program is designed to foster a commitment to providing lifelong recreational opportunities for the general public.

Mission - Strength and Conditioning

The mission of the Strength and Conditioning option within the Sport, Fitness, and Recreation Management degree at Chadron State College is to prepare students to become strength and conditioning coaches able to serve the institution’s service region and beyond. Students will gain knowledge and skills in the areas of training methodologies, program design, and administration. Upon completion of this degree option, students will be prepared to sit for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning exam.

Chadron State College Strength and Conditioning Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Education (CASCE), a recognized authority in quality strength and conditioning education. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and excellence in our strength and conditioning program. Our curriculum, faculty, and facilities have undergone rigorous evaluation to ensure that we provide students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to excel in the field of strength and conditioning and keep athletes safe.

Strength & Conditioning Program has 35 students enrolled as of September 2023.

The program’s retention rate from October 2022 to October 2023 was 78.95%.
