Name: Swairie Fernando
Country: Sri Lanka
Began her MBA at Chadron State in the Fall of 2019.

“The MBA program at Chadron State College is an excellent fit for me, as I get one-on-one attention from the professors due to the small class sizes. I have been able to learn faster and perform better in class, as I receive performance feedback throughout the courses. The Graduate Assistant position, which I pursued through the Nebraska Business Development Center, has helped me get rid of the financial burden, as I receive free tuition along with a stipend. Being a Graduate Assistant is a great working experience, as I get to consult the entrepreneurs from the Northwest Nebraska area. Gaining work experience while studying allows me to practically adapt my business knowledge and be in real-time learning curves, acquiring much-needed, hands-on, practical training. I believe that the entire experience I gain at Chadron State College will help me kick start my career.”

Chadron State College identity as well as the City of Chadron personability create the ideal environment for International students. Even as a student athlete, CSC enabled me to garner hand on experience synonymously with opportunities for employment. The fluid partnership between college and community provides the perfect student oasis. Although, transferring from Florida to Chadron Nebraska felt daunting, the move proved to be the best decision I have ever made. Professors and Employees specifically focus on student learning and outcomes. They seek to pass on their academic knowledge as well as worldly skill. How often will a professor grab a coffee with a student to review uncertainties on a Saturday? At CSC these focused moments are a common occurrence. I am proud to be an Eagle forever.
